National ACW Annual President and Coordinator Conference
Registration Financial Assistance Request
Background
In 1996, the National ACW received a bequest from the Estate of Miss Mary (May) Godfrey Titley. The principal was held in trust and invested by the National Church on behalf of the ACW. Over time, with accumulated interest the fund had increased to $25,000.
At the 1999 ACW President/Coordinator Conference it was decided that a bursary be set up from the Titley Separate Funds (interest), to assist with the cost of the Annual Conference registration fee for those Dioceses experiencing financial difficulty.
The following motion was passed:
1) That guidelines for applications for funding from the Titley Separate Fund be prepared by the National Coordinator and Ecclesiastical Provincial Representatives and be distributed to dioceses.
2) That a clause be included within the application guidelines, for funding from the Titley Separate Fund, indicating that up to 40% of the required registration fee may be covered when financial assistance is required.
In 2011, at the ACW President/Coordinator Conference it was decided to move the Titley funds into the Anglican Church Women of Canada Trust Fund with the Anglican Foundation. The following guidelines where then passed for the use of the Titley Fund Interest:
USE OF TITLEY FUND INTEREST:
1. The Titley Fund is an investment of $25,000 (which forms part of the Anglican Church Women of Canada Trust Fund with the Anglican Foundation).
2. Interest from this fund was originally transferred to the National Anglican Church Women Operating Account; however, in recent years the Interest has been reinvested in the Trust Fund to ensure funds will be available for future use, as required.
3. In practice, the primary function of this Trust has been to provide assistance to Presidents from Diocesan ACW’s without the financial means to completely fund the costs of attending the National ACW Conference. On occasion, a review of the financial statement may suggest that the Diocese does have sufficient funds; but because those funds have previously been set aside for a specific purpose, they are not available to pay the full Registration Fees. In this case, a full explanation as to why the funds cannot be utilized must be included in support of the request for Registration Fee assistance.
4. The Fund currently provides 40% ($480) towards the $1200 fee.
Guidelines for disbursement of funds:
1. To assist the Diocesan ACW President/Coordinator or Proxy only.
2. A financial statement must be included with the application.
3. If financial statement is not available, the application must include an explanation of the
reasons for need, or a letter from the Diocesan Bishop.
4. No more than 40% of the registration fee can be disbursed per application.
5. If a Diocese sends a Vice President she will not qualify for assistance.
